After five years as volunteer CEO of Crime Stoppers International, Shane Britten is stepping down to devote more time to his personal business obligations. President Sharon Hanlon AM, expressed the organization’s gratitude for Shane’s contribution, “The Board wishes Shane all the very best and he has our sincere thanks for leading Crime Stoppers International as it delivered highly successful and impactful campaigns and projects, as well as steering the organization through some very challenging times.” Ms Hayley van Loon, who has served as Deputy CEO for the last two years, will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer “While it is definitely sad to say goodbye to Shane, he leaves the organization in very capable hands. Hayley is extremely well-regarded by our key stakeholders having forged strong working relationships and significant collaborations with many of them, she has an intimate working knowledge of our business, and the Board and management team are thrilled at the prospect of her leading Crime Stoppers International to achieve its mission through continued collaboration, innovation and global partnerships” Ms Hanlon said. In Hayley’s own words, “I’m incredibly excited to lead Crime Stoppers International into its next chapter, building on our successes and strengthening our global partnerships to keep communities worldwide safe.”

As a support to Hayley in her new role, we’re delighted to announce Jarrad Warwick and Davina Mansfield have been appointed to the pivotal new roles of Head of Strategic Technology & Capability and Head of Program Delivery and Impact, respectively. Jarrad Warwick has more than 15 years of experience supporting law enforcement and intelligence agencies across the globe and his career has spanned the delivery of operational capability, specialist training and strategic advisory services – always with a focus on empowering those working to keep communities safe. He is widely respected for his practical approach, global perspective, and ability to align innovative technology with frontline needs. In speaking of his new role, Jarrad said “I am thrilled to officially join Crime Stoppers International as we push the boundaries of how innovative technology and capability can help disrupt cross-border crime and make communities safer worldwide. This new role is an opportunity to bring my experience to a truly global stage, aligning technology with the real-world needs of those on the frontline.” Davina Mansfield is a strategic and results focused C-suite executive with a defence and national security background. She brings deep expertise in operational excellence, organizational transformation, and stakeholder engagement across complex environments. Throughout her career, Davina has successfully led complex operations, scaled high-performing teams, and driven enterprise-wide initiatives to improve efficiency, resilience, and long-term value. With a strong focus on governance, innovation, and organizational alignment, Davina is known for her ability to guide companies through change and deliver sustainable impact. In announcing these appointments, CEO Hayley van Loon stated, "The technical, operational and governance expertise plus enthusiasm and energy that Jarrad and Davina bring will assist us enormously to deliver greater impact for our partners and across our global programs."

Spotlight on: Canadian CS Association Conference

Hosted by Crime Stoppers of Newfoundland and Labrador, CSI Vice President Mick Duthie, was pleased to accept an invitation from the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association to attend its 2025 National Training Conference in St John’s Newfoundland, and grateful to the organizers for their hospitality and warm welcome. Presentations from subject matters experts on cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and international brands fighting counterfeiters were all highlights. Likewise, Mick’s presentation on Crime Stoppers International’s role, Canada’s contribution to our global efforts in tackling transnational serious and organized crime, and some of the great work being done in his own country by Crimestoppers UK was well received. The conference reinforced that Crime Stoppers programs worldwide are working on very similar issues to fight crime, educate the public, and promote their work. Also, that the people involved are committed, enthusiastic and engaging, keen to learn what can be successfully replicated by way of campaigns, corporate structure and governance, and to expand their own personal knowledge and professional development! The event proved a fantastic opportunity to see, hear and learn of the work by Crime Stoppers programs across Canada, to establish some strong connections, and to understand how CSI might extend the support it provides to Member programs.
